Lyndale is an extension and renovation of a 1930’s home in Chorleywood. Our client, a talented designer and business sought to give her home a new lease of life. A functional and minimal design with an emphasis on detail drove the projects interior ambition, whilst our main focus architecturally, was to bridge the existing condition to an existing garage.
The geometry of the new infill extension allowed for an interesting courtyard garden, designed around a mediterranean feel that provides an ideal sun trap and peaceful retreat. Nestled on a steep hill, the new terraced garden allowed a slow meander up to the main garden, providing designated stopping points with integrated borders for planting.
Working closely together the open plan space uses division wall, nooks and recesses to provide moments of privacy from the open plan arrangement. Meanwhile the garage space has been transformed in to a utility space, housing storage, washing areas and a small downstairs toilet.
A bespoke sliding partition screen between the living area and the kitchen allows light to traverse the whole home.
NiNN was involved from inception to completion, supporting the client at every step.
