NiNN has had a long standing relationship with Ollie and Lucy, founders of Pophams, and were delighted to be invited to work with the team on their newest site in Victoria Park Village. Formally a tired old garage, the project looked to overhaul the site in to a bright, light filled space in keeping with the Pophams aesthetic.
After several conversations, our design direction sought to soften the square language of the site. The addition of soft curves and arches formed cosy nooks and storage spaces. Soft lighting amplified this sense of cocooning by washing the walls with warm light. To the centre of the space, a wonderful hand curved oak bar sits as centrepiece - adding and extra layer of warmth to the space.
The palette was kept to a minimum in a bid to highlight the pastries and keep the project streamlined. Simple texture on the walls by using lime plaster adds texture without creating too much noise, this is continued on to the bench seating, which winds itself outside.
Hand made terracotta lights hang above the bar, subtle and earthy, whilst new Sapele doors and window tie the facade together.
